California’s Governor just got steamrolled on national TV, and it wasn’t even by a conservative journalist. When lifelong Democrat Katie Couric grilled Gavin Newsom over California’s miserable rankings—sky-high poverty, failing schools, and record unemployment—he had nowhere to hide. Newsom unleashed his usual stream of half-baked talking points, desperately trying to spin the disaster his party has created. This is the “golden state” under far-left rule: millions trapped in poverty, top-dollar education spending, and yet kids can’t read or do math. Liberals promised progress, but what have they delivered instead? A state going backwards.
Newsom tried to dismiss the poverty numbers, acting as if California’s stats are no worse than Florida or Louisiana. That’s simply not true. California actually leads the nation in poverty, tied at the top with Louisiana and soaring above the national average. For years, Democrats have thrown money at failing programs, yet the poor keep getting poorer. Then, Newsom had the nerve to blame California’s out-of-control housing costs—a crisis born from liberal policies that choke supply and jack up prices. Rent controls, sky-high bureaucracy, and endless regulation have only made things worse. But when has the left ever learned from failure? They double down every time.
Faced with sinking test scores, Newsom bragged about rising education spending. California shells out more per student than most states in America. But where are the results? Test scores are still below average, and most kids are still left behind. This is what happens when Democratic politicians spend more time pushing woke ideology than helping students actually learn. The schools aren’t working, families are fed up, and the only thing liberals offer is more empty promises and more wasted billions.
Whenever he’s cornered, Newsom hides behind the achievements of hard-working Californians. Yes, California leads in tech, agriculture, and jobs—but not because of Sacramento’s ruling class. It’s the innovation and grit of its people, building and growing despite being shackled by the state’s socialist agenda. Imagine what California might look like with real leadership and conservative reform—lower taxes, fewer regulations, school choice, and the freedom for entrepreneurs to thrive. Instead, Democrats drive their best and brightest out, while pretending their globalist policies haven’t hollowed out America’s heartland.
When even liberal journalists can’t cover for Newsom’s failures, you know the jig is up. California’s potential gets suffocated by a ruling elite more interested in virtue signaling than actually fixing anything. How much longer will voters let incompetent Democrats run the Golden State into the ground? Isn’t it past time for a Republican renaissance—one that puts Californians first, ends the gimmicks, and restores American greatness from coast to coast?
