Just ask the 650 LA hotel employees who are suddenly out of a job. Politicians in their fancy offices don’t seem to care that families are now scrambling because “progressives” thought they could rewrite the basic rules of economics.
This is what happens when out-of-touch leftists try to play economic wizard. They pretend they can wave a wand and create “living wages.” In truth, all they create is unemployment. When businesses can’t afford these artificial wage hikes, jobs evaporate. The minimum wage isn’t whatever the city council dreams up; it’s still zero for those who get canned. Liberal hypocrisy never takes a day off. These same officials cheer for union bosses and finger-point at “greedy corporations,” but then act shocked when hotels slash jobs. The minimum wage may be $30 on paper, but it’s zero if you’re on the street. LA’s leaders can’t legislate away the laws of supply and demand, no matter how many times they try.
