Biden admin unleashes new nutrition scheme for med schools taxpayers left with the bill again

The Biden administration is at it again, finding new ways to meddle in education with our hard-earned tax dollars. This time, it’s not enough for federal bureaucrats to tell us what our kids should be learning in grade schools. Now, they think future doctors need Washington, D.C. telling them what to think about food, nutrition, and—let’s be honest—basically how to do their jobs. The Health and Human Services and the Education departments just cooked up a so-called “nutrition education initiative” for 53 universities across 31 states. Translation? More federal dollars wasted on top-down, one-size-fits-all programs.

Of course, liberals love to call any program like this “investing in public health.” But what they’re really doing is pushing their own agenda, pretending government knows better than families and local experts. Didn’t we just watch the CDC fumble through nutrition and health advice during the pandemic? Now, they want to double down and shape what America’s brightest medical minds learn in class. As if federal bureaucrats ever miss a chance to feel important or boss other people around.

This is classic big government thinking. Instead of empowering doctors to use their common sense or the latest independent research, elites in the beltway want everyone marching to the same drum. That’s how you end up with food pyramids based on flawed science, or “science-based” guidelines that seem to change every few years—while Americans get sicker and our health system gets more bloated. Will they ever learn that throwing money at problems doesn’t fix them?

The left boasts about science but can’t get out of its own way when politics enters the picture. They’re obsessed with controlling every aspect of our lives—from what kids eat in school, to what’s taught in med school, to what we’re allowed to serve at our own dinner tables. These initiatives are just another excuse for bloated government and more taxpayer waste. Meanwhile, local doctors, rural hospitals, and small-town clinics are still crying out for real support. But instead of giving power to communities, liberals would rather funnel millions into classroom lectures that sound good on cable news.

Americans should be asking: who benefits from these feel-good federal programs? Certainly not the taxpayers. If the left truly cared, they’d let medical schools and local leaders decide what’s best for their own students and patients. Maybe it’s time for Washington to stop pretending it knows what’s best for everyone—especially when it comes to what’s on our plates.
