The radical leftists running Richmond have finally gotten their wish: an assault weapons ban is heading straight to the governor’s desk. This is not about safety, and everyone knows it. It’s about control—pure and simple. Democrats in Virginia, once held in check by Republicans with some common sense, now have a vice grip on the statehouse. And what do they do with their power? They attack law-abiding gun owners, punish freedom, and target the very people who follow the rules.
Come July 1, Virginians will wake up with fewer rights and even less recourse. Any firearm that looks “scary” to a liberal bureaucrat is now on the chopping block. High-capacity magazines? Outlawed for regular citizens. If you own these guns or magazines already, they’ll grandfather you in—how generous. But heaven forbid you want to buy a new one for self-defense or sporting purposes. These politicians want you powerless, and they’re doing it by whittling away at our Second Amendment rights bit by bit.
Democrats push this ban under the flimsy excuse of “public safety,” yet they carve out exceptions for their own—law enforcement, government security, and anyone else watching over their precious bureaucratic nests. Everyone else, the people who simply want to protect their families or exercise their God-given rights, gets the boot. The hypocrisy is suffocating.
And don’t forget the real-world results. Criminals aren’t going to line up to hand over their weapons. Murderers and gang members will still get their hands on whatever hardware they want. The only people losing out are the hard-working, law-abiding Americans who follow the law—because liberals and their donors in elite circles refuse to face the truth about crime and violence.
Virginians should be outraged. How many times will the far left come after the Constitution before people finally put a stop to it? Maybe the next step is banning “dangerous” speech or “offensive” opinions. When will enough be enough?
