Florida Targets Child Snatching Agencies DeSantis Faces Ultimate Test to Protect Families

Florida is finally taking a much-needed stand against the horrors of government overreach. Lawmakers have just passed a bill that could bring an end to one of the most disturbing abuses of state power—snatching children from loving families based on flimsy accusations and bureaucratic arrogance. It’s called “Patterson’s Law,” and it’s now waiting for the governor’s signature. If Governor Ron DeSantis wants to prove he’s serious about protecting families, he’ll sign it without hesitation.

For too long, Big Government agencies like the Department of Children and Families have acted like unaccountable gods, tearing babies away from their parents over nothing more than a doctor’s hunch or a misguided social worker’s suspicion. Just look at what happened to Michael and Tasha Patterson. Their twin babies were taken and their parental rights terminated because State “experts” were sure the kids’ medical issues were signs of abuse. Even when private doctors pointed to real genetic conditions, the bureaucrats refused to listen. Why? Because power is addictive and it blinds these state actors to the heartbreak they cause.

Liberals love to talk about “protecting families”—but where were they when innocent moms and dads were being railroaded in secret courtrooms, outspent and outmaneuvered at every turn by tax-funded legal teams? The truth is, the left’s blind faith in government made this nightmare possible in the first place. For years, these agencies have ignored independent doctors, shut out parents’ voices, and rubber-stamped life-altering decisions all while hiding behind the excuse of “child protection.” Meanwhile, real child abusers slip through the cracks while innocent families are torn apart.

This new law turns things upside down—finally. It gives parents the right to get a second opinion from legitimate doctors, out of their own pocket, to prove their innocence. It forces government agents to actually consider medical realities instead of just looking for someone to blame. And it demands that authorities consult with real specialists—not just the go-along-to-get-along crowd looking to keep their jobs.

Maybe this is why the leftist establishment is so spooked. When regular people get more power to fight back against the system, the bureaucrats—and their globalist, nanny-state backers—start to panic. But protecting families should be non-negotiable in any free country. The Petersons aren’t alone; this kind of abuse has happened in Florida, Georgia, New Hampshire, Massachusetts—everywhere government puts itself above accountability.

Florida just might be leading the way out of this mess. Maybe it’s time the rest of the nation asks why, in the land of the free, government agencies ever had this power in the first place. Is it really “progress” when the state can rip apart families over nothing but a bureaucrat’s guess?
