California is losing its restaurants faster than you can say “$1,500 tasting menu.” While left-wing elites whine about world-famous chef Rene Redzepi bringing Noma’s outrageously priced pop-up to Los Angeles, they ignore the real reason restaurants are going under: liberal insanity. Progressive bureaucrats and their red tape have done more damage to California’s food scene than any celebrity chef ever could.
Let’s get one thing straight. Ordinary people are not sitting around debating who cooks the tiniest piece of wagyu on a tiny plate. They’re worried about jobs, skyrocketing grocery bills, and the fact that small neighborhood restaurants are gasping for air under a mountain of taxes and regulations. But the woke food crowd doesn’t want to talk about that. They’d rather rage about kitchen gossip and throw a fit if a famous chef has a temper.
Here’s the hypocrisy: all these so-called food experts built their careers on worshiping European celebrity chefs like Redzepi. Now, suddenly, they clutch their pearls because he’s coming to LA? Give us a break. The real outrage should be aimed at a system that lets massive globalist brands set up $1,500 foodie circuses, while home-grown diners and taquerias get picked off by anti-business policies.
Thanks to the progressive ruling class, it’s nearly impossible to run a restaurant in California unless you’re backed by a multi-million dollar empire. Even then, the money isn’t going to the cooks and servers. It’s getting vacuumed up by government, consultants, and corporations. So when these elites whine about who should be allowed to do business in LA, remember: they’re the ones who made it a playground for the rich and famous while everyone else pays the price.
If Californians are tired of watching their favorite places disappear, maybe it’s time to stop listening to the loudest complainers and start blaming the real villains. Why do liberals always seem angrier at famous chefs than they are at their own failed policies?
