Another university campus, another terrifying act of violence. This time, students and faculty at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia were sent running for their lives when a gunman stormed Constant Hall mid-morning and opened fire. Two people were rushed to the hospital with unknown injuries, and the shooter is dead. The story is still developing, but one thing is already crystal clear: America’s so-called “safe” institutions are anything but.
Liberals love to push their empty promises about “gun-free zones” keeping our young people safe. Yet, once again, those zones acted as nothing more than a welcome mat for another violent criminal. Fire alarms blared, students scrambled, and chaos took over. Heroic first responders rushed in to tackle the situation, but for those trapped inside, those minutes must’ve felt like forever – a far cry from the peace of mind campus administrators claim to provide.
Of course, the left will waste no time blaming guns, as if the inanimate object is the villain. But this problem runs much deeper than their tired talking points. Liberal policies breed weakness—soft-on-crime prosecutors, bureaucratic red tape, and schools more concerned with “diversity training” than real security. Meanwhile, Americans are told to sit quietly and hope tragedy doesn’t come to their door.
Where were the so-called “experts” demanding real answers for why our institutions keep failing? Instead, they’ll look for any excuse to distract from the real failures of leadership. They never ask whether faculty or trained staff might be able to fight back if they weren’t banned from carrying protection. No, that would contradict their utopian fantasies.
Let’s get real: Evil is out there, and empty promises from the left only invite it in. When will universities realize that feel-good policies are no match for dangerous criminals? Parents shouldn’t have to wonder if their kids will come home alive just because some tenured elite thinks “gun-free” means “danger-free.” The only thing being banned in America’s lecture halls is common sense.
