J.B. Pritzker, governor of Illinois, just made it official: his state is now a sanctuary from American law and order. By signing HB 1312, Pritzker didn’t just poke Washington in the eye — he slammed the door on federal agents, banning them from doing their jobs across key spots in Illinois. Hospitals, schools, courthouses, even daycare centers—these are now off-limits to federal law enforcement trying to enforce the border or remove criminals. In other words, the criminals and illegal migrants get “safe spaces.” Law-abiding citizens? They get the back of Pritzker’s hand.
This is more than just bad policy. It’s open rebellion against the country Pritzker swore to serve. Democrats used to at least pretend to protect their constituents from crime. Now, they protect the criminals and toss the rest of us under the bus. The left would like you to believe the real lawbreakers are in Washington, just for daring to enforce immigration law. Let’s call it what it is: Democrats in Illinois are protecting the people who make our streets and communities less safe. They claim they’re fighting for so-called “marginalized” groups, but the only groups getting real protection now are gangs, criminals, and lawbreakers. The very places banned to federal enforcement are those drowning in taxpayer money, federal grants, handouts, and credits. The left takes Washington’s cash but spits in its face when it comes time to enforce the law.
Ask yourself: whose side are the Democrats really on? This latest stunt makes it painfully clear. The interests of American citizens, taxpayers, and working families aren’t even on Pritzker’s list. He’d rather showboat for leftist donors and play hero to illegal immigrants than protect the people who actually built Illinois. It’s no accident that crime surges, Chicago becomes a haven for those who skirt the law, and productive citizens flee in droves. That’s the machine’s strategy—keep people dependent, poor, and scared enough to keep voting blue.
HB 1312 is lawfare, plain and simple—a naked attempt to hobble the federal government, just like the endless witch hunts Democrats have waged against Trump.
