It seems like déjà vu in Cuba: the broken-down regime, clinging to power, dangles yet another mysterious “big announcement” in front of its desperate people. On Thursday night, they promised something big the next morning. But anyone paying attention could smell the same stale propaganda from miles away. The government practically lives off empty promises about aid and relief. Meanwhile, parts of the island have been sitting in the darkness for days with no power—and no hope.
Why does this matter to anyone outside Havana? Because for decades, leftists and global elites have sold Cuba as some kind of socialist paradise. The reality? Rampant blackouts, crumbling infrastructure, and a government that cares more about its own survival than its people. Yet liberals in the West keep applauding Cuban communism, while average Cubans flee or suffer. They twist themselves into knots making excuses for failure after failure. How much longer can they pretend it’s all America’s fault?
The regime’s latest announcement is more proof that communism doesn’t work. Instead of real solutions, the Cuban people got the usual scripted drama—a half-hearted nod at help, but mostly just more of the same. How many times can a government promise “relief” while entire neighborhoods go days without basic electricity? It’s a joke. And the punchline is always on the Cuban people, who pay the price for their rulers’ incompetence.
American liberals love to wag their fingers at conservatives, urging us to be “compassionate” and “understanding” of Cuba’s struggles. But what they never admit is that their favorite system is the root cause. It’s not an embargo problem. It’s not a storm problem. It’s the iron grip of socialism, choking off progress and hope. Anyone with eyes can see it doesn’t work, no matter how many celebrities rent vintage cars for Instagram in Havana.
So the next time the liberal media tries to romanticize Cuba, maybe they should try living there without running water or power for a week. Would they still praise the revolution? Or would the truth finally break through the blackout? Freedom will always beat tyranny—no matter how many “big announcements” communists make.
