Hollywood can’t help itself. Once again, another out-of-touch celebrity took center stage at the Oscars and decided the American people just had to hear his virtue signaling. This time, it was Javier Bardem using the glitzy Oscars stage to grandstand for a narrow, one-sided slogan: “Free Palestine.” Never mind that millions of Americans were tuning in to enjoy a night of movies and entertainment, not a political lecture.
Why do these Hollywood elites always jump at the chance to wag their fingers at the rest of us? While Americans face real problems at home—crime, inflation, and a border that’s more open than ever—these actors want to play international activist and preach about Middle Eastern politics. The irony cuts deep: the same folks who never miss a chance to bash the United States are trailing the globalist line, telling the world how to think while sitting safely in their multi-million dollar mansions.
There’s no mention of the innocent lives taken by terrorism, no outrage over rockets fired into Israel’s neighborhoods, no calls for the return of kidnapped hostages. Instead, we get tired, one-sided talking points shoved into the spotlight, carefully crafted for applause from the Hollywood echo chamber. Liberal incompetence is on full display when the biggest message on Oscar night is a three-word slogan on a conflict they’d never dare study in depth.
The Oscars could have been a chance to unite people, to celebrate art, or maybe just to let Americans escape politics for a few hours. Instead, it became a global stage for the same old leftist posturing. Hollywood would rather align itself with the activist crowd and signal their virtue than address any of the real crises faced by ordinary citizens—like American families suffering while elites fly private.
Is anybody else tired of millionaires lecturing us while ignoring true American values? Maybe next time, Hollywood should save their speeches and let the rest of us enjoy the show without a side of globalist propaganda.
