Democrats are showing their true colors again. Take a look at Scranton’s mayor, Paige Cognetti—the poster child for progressive overreach. When Easter 2020 approached and Americans wanted to gather in peace, she was busy threatening to unleash the police on anyone who went to church. That’s right—just days before one of the holiest celebrations in Christianity, Cognetti was ready to send cops after law-abiding citizens sitting in pews, while a state-level religious exemption was plainly in effect.
For a liberal, the First Amendment always seems to be the first casualty in any so-called “emergency.” It wasn’t enough for Cognetti to just bark orders. Behind closed doors, she and her allies tried to shame and intimidate faith leaders, hoping to force pastors online instead of letting families worship together. And when a concerned resident tattled on a local church, Cognetti’s team eagerly worked the phones—like hall monitors for the secular left—begging community members to turn in their “rule-breaking” neighbors.
People can see the hypocrisy from miles away. These same Democrats, hiding behind “public safety,” gladly looked the other way as left-wing protestors packed city streets in violation of every so-called lockdown rule. But churchgoers? They were treated like criminals. Liberals like Cognetti claim to be defenders of “rights” and “freedoms,” yet they bend over backwards to target religious Americans whenever possible. This is the same crowd that cheers on open borders but turns churches into targets for government power.
Now, Cognetti thinks she deserves a promotion. She’s eyeing a Congressional seat, hoping to oust a solid Republican like Rob Bresnahan. Pennsylvania’s Eighth District doesn’t need more leftist busybodies who see churches as threats and treat ordinary Americans like enemies. It needs real leaders who stand up for our Constitution and put faith and family before globalist talking points and bureaucratic interference.
How much longer will the American people tolerate Democrats who want to police our beliefs, silence our voices, and punish faithful families? If this is the future the left has in store for us, it’s no wonder their own voters are waking up to the madness. America was built on freedom—not on hunting down Christians for daring to gather on Easter Sunday.
