California just can’t help itself. While families struggle to make ends meet, the Golden State is flushing over $100 million down the drain on what’s being called the world’s largest “wildlife crossing.” You can’t make this stuff up—California politicians are building a bridge for animals over a highway, and so far it’s turned into a massive, taxpayer-funded boondoggle. The bridge isn’t even finished, but the price tag keeps climbing higher and higher, with nothing to show but endless delays and grinning environmentalist groups collecting paychecks.
This isn’t about saving wildlife—this is about Democrats in Sacramento throwing your hard-earned money at pet projects to please the radical left. They call it “progress,” but it’s really just a jobs program for green bureaucrats and consultants. Everyday Californians are suffering under the highest taxes in the nation, yet somehow there’s always cash for these pipe dreams. Meanwhile, our roads, schools, and public safety fall further apart.
It’s not enough that California is already losing businesses and families to states with common sense. Now they’re spending public dollars to build a “bridge to nowhere.” The same political class that can’t fix traffic, can’t control crime, and can’t balance a budget, want you to believe spending $100 million for mountain lions is a top priority. They claim it’s about “protecting species,” but what about protecting taxpayers? Who’s building a bridge for them?
This wildlife crossing is a glaring symbol of liberal mismanagement. The environmental lobby gets richer, politicians get press releases, and regular people get stuck with the bill. Does anyone seriously believe this project will ever be finished, or work as promised? Or is this just another fantasy cooked up by elites who care more about animals than American families?
Only in California do liberal leaders bankrupt cities trying to save cougars on a highway while ignoring the hard-working men and women who actually built this state. If anyone needs rescuing, it’s the taxpayers, not the animals. Maybe it’s time to build a bridge out of California—for everyone tired of funding this circus.
