For decades, the American left has treated Cuba like some kind of progressive playground, turning a blind eye to the suffering and oppression right under their noses. The so-called mainstream media is just as guilty, always too busy parroting anonymous, regime-friendly talking points to call out the truly evil actors in Havana. But in the real world—away from liberal fantasy—Cuba is cracking down even harder on anyone who dares speak out, leveling threats and making a mockery of basic human rights.

Meanwhile, establishment Democrats keep making excuses or pretending the Cuban regime is some misunderstood neighbor. What a joke. Cuba’s thugs have no interest in dialogue or diplomacy. They just want to silence opposition, gobble up more power, and stomp out freedom wherever they can find it. And it’s beyond hypocrisy for Biden and his allies to keep their mouths shut, pretending this is all business as usual, while everyday Cubans are begging for someone to care.

But conservatives—and patriots who actually give a damn—know what’s really going on. We’re not fooled by slick White House press releases or the feel-good blather you hear on CNN. Politicians like Marco Rubio are the rare exceptions—actually daring to tell the truth about the Castro regime’s threats and intimidation, even as the rest of Washington sits comfortably on their hands.

Let’s be real: when Cuba’s brutal government starts barking threats, it’s not just against dissidents on their own turf. It’s a warning to America, too. The more the left plays nice, the bolder these tyrants become. Why does no one on the left seem willing to draw the line in the sand, stand up to bullies, or defend democracy? Maybe globalist dreams and virtue-signaling are more important to them than genuine freedom.

Americans should never forget who’s really standing up for liberty—and who’s too busy virtue-signaling to notice when dictatorships threaten the free world. The left can keep lying to themselves, but the truth is staring them straight in the face. Is it any wonder the Cuban people don’t trust the so-called “leaders” in Washington?
