New York’s Governor’s Race to the Bottom
Only in today’s upside-down world could a liberal governor like Kathy Hochul traipse down to Florida, of all places, and beg New Yorkers to come back home. That’s right. The same governor who cheered as her state’s taxes, crime, and regulations chased fed-up citizens out the door is now groveling in the Sunshine State. Hochul wants her high-earners and hardworking families back—after years of treating them like piggybanks and doormats.
Let’s not pretend this is a mystery. Blue states like New York and California keep hemorrhaging people because radical politicians make life impossible for regular folks. Sky-high rents, oppressive taxes, and criminals running wild in the streets are the new normal. So, what happens? People pack up and move to states that actually respect freedom, hard work, and common sense—like Texas and Florida. But instead of fixing the mess, liberals want to guilt-trip successful Americans into returning to the disaster zones they created.
Meanwhile, as Hochul begs in the south, socialist lawmakers like Zohran Mamdani are trying to turn New York into a laboratory of leftist lunacy. His idea of a “utopia” looks more like California’s homeless tent cities than the American Dream. No wonder families and businesses are running for the hills. When even high-profile Democrats have to admit their own policies are driving people away, you know the jig is up.
It’s laughable to watch left-wing elites complain about the so-called “brain drain.” Their solution? Plead for returnees while doubling down on the same failed, big-government policies that drove folks out. Liberals act shocked when people vote with their feet and escape to places that let them keep more of their money, protect their neighborhoods, and let their kids learn real values in school.
If Hochul and her fellow Democrats were serious, they’d slash taxes, support the police, and stop treating entrepreneurs like ATMs. Instead, they keep pushing for more socialism and more control. Maybe if these out-of-touch politicians actually listened to the people—rather than lectured them—we wouldn’t have to watch this embarrassing parade of desperation. Why go back to New York’s mess when Florida offers freedom and prosperity? That’s a question Hochul can’t answer—because deep down, she knows the truth.
