Texans are proud of their barbecue. The smell of smoked brisket and ribs is woven into the very fabric of Texas life. So, it takes a special kind of audacity—or cluelessness—for a left-wing candidate to roll into the heart of barbecue country pushing a non-meat, vegan campaign. That’s exactly what Talarico decided to do. You have to wonder: Does he have any idea where he is, or does he just think Texas is a place to peddle the latest woke trends from the coasts?
This is not just some harmless dietary preference. The left wants to tell Texans—yes, real, hardworking, God-fearing Texans—that the true taste of the Lone Star State is suddenly wrong. That decades of family tradition are worth abandoning for tofu and kale. Liberals like Talarico imagine they know better, that their globalist, anti-meat rhetoric should be adopted everywhere, even if it means erasing what makes Texas Texas.
It’s hard not to cringe at the hypocrisy. The same progressive politicians who fly around in private jets, scarfing down luxury steaks at fancy fundraisers, want regular Americans to give up meat for “the planet.” If you ask them, barbecue is now apparently dangerous, politically incorrect, or—heaven forbid—unacceptable. Funny how these utopian food rules never seem to apply to the elite leftists handing them down.
Texas is more than just a place. It’s a mindset rooted in freedom and tradition. By running a campaign that shuns meat, Talarico is telling Texans their heritage, their way of life, and their common sense don’t matter. It’s just another example of the left’s arrogance: they never miss a chance to attack American culture, especially if it gets them a pat on the back from their pals in California and New York.
If Talarico thinks he can win the hearts of Texas by trashing brisket, he’ll learn real fast—nobody messes with Texas barbecue. Maybe next time he’ll try running for office in Portland, where tofu and lentils are more his style. Or maybe the left just wants to see American values go up in smoke, one grill at a time.
