There’s a reason why American sports fans can feel like they’re locked in a private little hell lately. The so-called “Mainstream Sports Media” loves nothing more than shoving their globalist agenda down our throats while pretending to care about our teams and traditions. Take the Super Bowl this year — which apparently the Seahawks actually had to win for everyone to even pay attention. The Patriots were steamrolled, and somehow the sports media had less energy than Joe Biden at a press conference. Guess they were too busy crying over Tom Brady’s politics to enjoy the game.
That snooze-fest rolls right into the Winter Olympics, another circus where American excellence gets drowned out by woke handwringing and globalism. You get up at the crack of dawn to watch men’s hockey, and guess what? The left-wing media only cares when they can beat their drum for whatever country they think is “more progressive.” When Team USA loses, the pink-haired pundits act like it’s karma for refusing to kneel during the anthem.
And then there’s March Madness — well, what’s left of it. Colleges that should be celebrating their hard-won victories get brushed aside because they’re not the flavor-of-the-week for progressive activists. Look, some of us are out here rooting for schools like Cal who actually give their all, but you’d never know it flipping through ESPN or any politician’s virtue-signaling tweets. It’s all about pushing narratives, not celebrating achievement.
While real sports fans are sweating out NIT first-round games, the media elites are busy lecturing Middle America about what teams they’re supposed to support and why. Liberals love to talk about “unity” and “inclusivity,” but the second an underdog doesn’t fit their mold, it’s right to the memory hole. No wonder half the country tunes them out, and fewer people trust them to call a play straight.
Why isn’t the left content with just celebrating the game? Because they hate anything that brings real Americans together. Sports used to be a place where you could root for your team, win or lose, and not worry about stepping on some woke landmine. Today, if you’re proud of your traditions or you celebrate a little too loudly, you’re labeled fanatical or worse. Maybe, just maybe, if liberals got out of their ivory towers and actually watched a game with the rest of us, they’d see that teamwork, competition, and tradition are what make America great — not whatever latest hashtag they’re pushing. Isn’t it time we take back our sports from the cultural scolds and let the real fans have their day?
