It’s a national disgrace that only 10 states in America require recess for elementary school kids. Are we really this out of touch? Children these days sit for hours inside, staring at screens, being force-fed test prep and “woke” curriculum—while basic common sense like recess gets thrown out the window. Liberals wring their hands over “youth mental health crises,” but they won’t even guarantee kids the right to 30 minutes of fresh air and exercise.
Let’s face it: the war on recess is just another top-down, know-it-all move by bureaucrats who have probably never set foot on a playground. While globalist do-gooders lecture us about “childhood development,” a shockingly low number of states bother to demand even the most simple, obvious thing—let kids play outside. That’s not just lazy, it’s anti-American. This nation used to raise strong, energetic kids. Now, we’ve got schools worried more about shrinking waistlines and test scores than about protecting childhood itself.
Recess isn’t just fun and games. It fights obesity, helps kids focus, and, yes, boosts academic achievement. But try telling that to the left-wing, no-fun crowd in our education system. They’d rather medicate restless kids or force them through more “screen-based learning” than admit something this old-fashioned could work. If you ever needed proof that these so-called experts are clueless, this is it.
Why do liberals keep making everything harder than it has to be? All the evidence points to kids desperately needing breaks and exercise, yet the powers-that-be drag their feet. Are they too busy pushing their pet projects and bureaucratic nonsense to notice? Or maybe, deep down, they think they know better than parents, teachers, or anyone who understands kids at all.
It’s time to bring sanity back. Every state should mandate recess, period. Want healthier, smarter, happier kids? The answer isn’t more screens, more testing, or more top-down interference. It’s old-school values and some time on the playground. Maybe if our leaders spent less time in meetings and more time on the swings, they’d finally get it.
