Once again, President Trump has to step up and do what weak Democrats simply refuse to do—protect our elections and our borders. While leftist lawmakers are scrambling, desperate to cut a deal to fund the Department of Homeland Security, Trump isn’t budging. He’s put his foot down and he’s right: not a dime more for DHS until the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act is signed, sealed, and delivered.
The SAVE Act is just common sense. It makes sure that only American citizens can vote in our elections. Why is that so controversial? Because Democrats have made it obvious—they want open borders. The more chaos, the better for their agenda. Every illegal crossing is a potential new voter and a sure threat to the integrity of our elections. Meanwhile, they wring their hands about “security” while blocking every single serious effort to keep our democracy safe.
It’s embarrassing to see Democrat politicians try to look tough on border security one minute and then turn around and oppose safeguards aimed at keeping foreign nationals from deciding American elections. Are they really worried about national security, or do they just want to keep the floodgates open and hope the chaos benefits them at the ballot box? No one is fooled by their games anymore.
Funding DHS without strong election security measures would be a colossal mistake. It’s like putting a bandaid on a gaping wound. If Democrats truly cared about protecting America, they’d pass the SAVE Act right now. Instead, they’re busy whining about “fairness” while our borders are wide open and our voter rolls are riddled with problems.
President Trump is showing backbone when the country needs it most. If enforcing the law, defending American citizens, and demanding fair elections is too much for the left to handle, maybe it’s time for them to step aside. How much longer will the American people tolerate Democrats putting globalist dreams ahead of basic national security and the sanctity of our vote?
