St Louis pushes secret gun control plan that could gut your rights and let criminals win

The city of St. Louis is at it again, pushing for more gun control — this time, by trying to override Missouri’s own laws. The state’s preemption law couldn’t be clearer: when it comes to gun regulation, only the state calls the shots. But that hasn’t stopped city bureaucrats from cooking up their own rule demanding that firearms left in vehicles must be locked up. They claim it’ll help curb gun theft. But really, it’s just another backdoor attempt to chip away at our Second Amendment rights.

Here’s the truth liberals don’t want to admit: They’re not interested in real solutions. They’re only interested in blaming law-abiding gun owners and tying us up in red tape. Their so-called “safety” measure does nothing except punish the responsible citizens trying to defend themselves — all while criminals continue to do whatever they want. The one time the city tried to enforce this law, charges against the gun owner got dropped and the courts rightly shut down the ordinance. But instead of taking the hint, St. Louis is spending even more taxpayer money to appeal the ruling. That’s left-leaning waste at its finest.

Let’s get one thing straight. Owning a gun is an American right — period. There can’t be a patchwork of gun laws changing from block to block just because liberals in one city want to feel good about themselves. That’s exactly why Missouri’s preemption law exists: to keep big-government meddling out of our lives. If Missouri lets St. Louis get away with this, every leftist city in America will be lining up with their own set of anti-gun rules — until the rest of us are left defenseless while criminals run wild.

Here’s another bit of liberal hypocrisy: The reason many people even leave guns in their cars is because of “gun-free zones” created by these same leftists. If people could carry their firearms into more places, they wouldn’t need to lock them up in a vehicle in the first place. Liberals love these zones — but all they do is put law-abiding citizens at risk, while the crooks just ignore the signs.

Missouri’s preemption law could use some tightening, no doubt. The vague wording has given leftist lawyers wiggle room to try and sneak their way around it. But if St. Louis wins this fight in the courts, you can bet the legislature will close that loophole fast. The anti-gun crowd in the city might win a battle, but they’ll lose the war. Maybe one day the Democrats will figure out that punishing responsible gun owners won’t solve crime — but then again, that requires more honesty than the left seems willing to show. When will they ever learn?
