It looks like common sense is making a comeback. A federal appeals court just backed the Department of Homeland Security’s tough detention policy for illegal immigrants. That means when people cross our border without permission, they’ll be held until their court dates. Finally, the Trump administration’s approach is starting to win in the courts. Liberals and open-borders types can whine all they want, but Americans are tired of our laws being ignored.
This decision is a win for sovereignty and security. For too long, the left has argued that anyone who crosses into this country deserves special treatment. They want to see illegal immigrants released into our communities, hoping the problem just goes away. Guess what? That has only invited more lawbreaking, chaos, and crime. It’s time we call this out for what it is—liberal incompetence putting American lives at risk.
The globalist elites seem to think U.S. borders are a suggestion, not a rule. They care more about political correctness and cheap labor than about real families who are hurt by illegal immigration. The Trump team is showing that law and order still matters, even if the Democrats would rather play politics. Upholding strict detention is the first step to putting Americans first again.
Some activists claim that detaining people is somehow cruel. They conveniently forget about the victims of illegal immigrant crime, the workers losing jobs, and the drain on our schools and hospitals. The left loves to talk about compassion, but what about compassion for American citizens? What about justice for the thousands who did things the right way and stood in line?
With this court ruling, it’s clear. The rule of law stands—at least for now. If liberals are so desperate to change America, maybe they should try following its laws first. Why is it controversial to expect illegal immigrants to wait in custody instead of disappearing into the shadows? Maybe the real question is why the left thinks any other country would put up with this nonsense.
