Washington’s cowardice is on full display yet again. The Senate just rammed through a half-baked funding bill, slapping themselves on the back and running for the hills, even though our Department of Homeland Security is still broke and vulnerable. Instead of securing our borders and giving ICE and our border agents the support they need, these politicians chose to pat themselves on the back for a job half done—then skipped town for a cushy two-week break. Where’s the leadership? Where’s the respect for the American people?
Make no mistake: this isn’t just incompetence. The open-borders crowd in D.C. is playing games with our national security. Instead of doing the hard work, senators on both sides are desperate for a vacation, content to leave 260,000 hard-working patriots twisting in the wind. And for what? Because Democrats can’t stand the idea of enforcing our immigration laws. That’s right—Schumer and his buddies are practically celebrating that ICE and critical border protections were left out of the bill. Apparently, the suffering of stranded travelers at airports, and the risk to our nation, is a small price to pay to make life easier for illegal immigrants.
And let’s not ignore the global threats piling up. We’re almost a month into open conflict with a hostile, terror-sponsoring regime, but Senate leaders still can’t be bothered to ensure America’s own homeland security agencies have the funding and resources to keep us safe. The so-called “victory” that Republican leadership wants to brag about is just the same as what the Democrats demanded. If Chuck Schumer is happy, you know something is rotten.
Senators like Mike Lee get it. He’s one of the few willing to call out this lazy, self-serving behavior. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen! If senators don’t want to actually work—long days, late nights, and all—then maybe they shouldn’t be there at all. America deserves warriors, not quitters who just want to make it home in time for dinner.
So here we are: while regular Americans pay the price, the D.C. elite punch out early and declare victory. How many more times do we have to watch Democrats sabotage border security and get away with it? How many more times will Republicans cave and claim it’s progress? Maybe it’s time we demand Congress put the American people—and our borders—first. If they won’t do their jobs, why should they keep them?
