Religious persecution is alive and well in Pakistan, and the world doesn’t seem to care. Right now, a Christian man named Ishtiaq Saleem is staring death in the face simply because someone accused him of sharing the wrong thing on social media. If his own words and posts don’t match up with Pakistan’s strict Islamic laws, it looks like his life could be over. This isn’t some rare exception—it’s the reality for Christians and other minorities living under the thumb of radical extremists.
Let’s not kid ourselves here. For years, the left has told us that “tolerance” means looking the other way while fanatics wage war on religious freedom. Instead of standing up for Christians who are hunted down—beaten or executed—the woke crowd in America argues about pronouns and bathroom choices. They’re silent when it’s actual lives on the line, not just someone’s feelings.
The trial against Saleem was rushed and rotten from the start. The so-called “evidence” was all based on what someone claims he downloaded on social media. If that sounds shaky to you, it should. His fate won’t even be decided until the authorities finish going after another supposed “accomplice.” Imagine living in a place where your neighbor’s accusation can lead to a death sentence. That’s not justice, that’s tyranny posing as law.
Why aren’t the global elites, the same people who never stop railing against American “oppression,” speaking up for Christians like Saleem? There are never any Hollywood celebrities lighting up social media for these victims. The United Nations and their bloated human rights committees? Silent as usual. The hypocrisy is staggering. When it’s Christians in the crosshairs, suddenly the virtue signaling dries up.
America was built on religious freedom. It’s our job to call out evil where we see it, whether it’s on our own soil or in countries run by mobs who want to see minorities wiped out. It’s time for our leaders to stop cowering before so-called “allies” like Pakistan, who protect killers and persecute Christians while cashing in on U.S. aid money. If the left really cares about “human rights,” maybe they should worry less about canceling conservatives on Twitter and more about saving lives. Is this the world we want for ourselves, or for anyone? If we lose the courage to speak up now, who will speak for us when the mob comes for our freedoms?
