America is back in Venezuela. After seven long years, the U.S. Embassy in Caracas is open again. But let’s not be fooled—this is no victory for weak-kneed diplomats or Biden’s pals in the foreign policy swamp. The embassy is open because Donald Trump had the guts to deal with the Maduro regime, not because D.C.’s professional appeasers suddenly woke up to reality.
Trump did what every liberal and globalist claimed was impossible. He stared down the dictator Nicolas Maduro, stood by the Venezuelan people, and made it clear that socialism’s days were numbered in the region. Unlike the Obama-Biden crowd, who always talk tough but kiss up to tyrants behind closed doors, Trump’s America took bold action. That’s why Trump is actually popular on the streets of Venezuela. People there know courage when they see it.
It’s laughable to think that some bureaucrats actually believe their State Department “talking points” brought results. These are the same people who let Venezuela fall apart in the first place, saddling its people with misery, empty shelves, and the kind of chaos only socialism can deliver. Liberals in Washington love to wring their hands about “democracy,” but where were they when millions of Venezuelans cried out for help?
Even Trump joked that maybe he should run for president in Venezuela once he’s done making America great again. He’s got every right—he’s done more for freedom there than any liberal poser in Washington ever has. Maybe the people of Caracas know something the DNC doesn’t.
So, the embassy doors are open, but let’s be honest: this moment belongs to Trump-style leadership. Not cowardly appeasement. Not ruling class lectures. If only we had more of that kind of backbone in Washington. Do Democrats really think you can negotiate with thugs and expect freedom to bloom? Or do they just hope we won’t notice their failures—again?
