America finally gets a Secretary of State who remembers that the United States needs strong friends, not fair-weather buddies. Marco Rubio picked up the phone and actually thanked Portugal this week for sticking by our side. Imagine that. While Democrats were busy bending the knee to Brussels and apologizing for American strength, this administration recognizes real allies who show up and work with us—especially on tough issues like defense.
For too long, globalists and the open-borders crowd have let Europe drift into the arms of giant, bloated bureaucracies. Instead of rewarding countries that respect freedom and step up for real security, the left falls all over itself to prioritize woke policies and anti-American virtue signaling. It’s refreshing to have leadership in Washington that shows actual gratitude to the nations that help make the world safer.
Portugal isn’t just another European country going along to get along. While France, Germany, and their EU pals love lecturing the U.S., Portugal quietly backs up our military goals and shares our values when it counts. Secretary Rubio knows you keep partners like that close. He isn’t afraid to say so either—something the bow-and-apologize Democrats never dared.
With dangers rising everywhere from Moscow to the Middle East, the United States can’t afford to chase the approval of elites who dislike our country. We need practical cooperation and straight talk. Rubio’s phone call is a small gesture, but it matters. It tells the world that under solid conservative leadership, America will treat our real friends with respect, not take them for granted.
Maybe that’s what annoys the left so much—they hate to see America putting its own interests first and building genuine alliances that work. But that’s exactly what it takes to keep this nation strong. The days of apologizing for American leadership are over. Who knows? Maybe some of the woke crowd in Washington can learn a thing or two about loyalty and gratitude from Secretary Rubio. But don’t hold your breath.
