Julie Menin just threw New York City a lifeline, while the left keeps chattering about wild spending and endless tax hikes. Unlike the usual mob, Menin’s budget doesn’t reach for your wallet every time a council member wants to feel good about themselves. For once, we have someone bringing a bit of sanity—and responsibility—to City Hall.
Let’s be real: Every year, socialists like Mamdani drool over new ways to tax us into oblivion, all in the name of “equity.” Their answer to every problem? Bigger government and more handouts, funded by beating down hardworking families and small businesses. Thankfully, Menin pumped the brakes on this runaway train before it crashed through what’s left of our city’s economy.
But let’s not start a victory parade just yet. Sure, this budget stops short of raising taxes. But holding the line on taxes shouldn’t be seen as heroic—it should be the bare minimum. We need bold cuts, real reform, and the guts to say no to every activist who comes knocking with their hand out. Tightening the belt on wasteful spending would finally put taxpayers first, not radical special interests or globalist bigwigs who treat New York like their pet experiment.
Meanwhile, leftist incompetence has made life harder for regular people. Out-of-control spending, useless programs, and woke projects have drained money from where it’s actually needed. Crime goes unchecked, schools keep failing, and yet the liberals act like another billion thrown at their pet causes will fix everything. If only real-world problems could be solved with virtue signals and slogan shouting.
Menin’s plan is better than Mamdani’s socialist fantasy, but let’s not pretend it’s the answer. This city needs a revolution in common sense. Go after waste, shred the bloated budgets, and give businesses a reason to stay. Want to rebuild a great New York? Stop mortgaging the future to pay for today’s failed liberal experiments. The real question: When will our leaders finally have the backbone to put taxpayers first for a change?
