Congress Jets Off on Lavish Getaway While Americans Suffer Under Shutdown Chaos

Washington is showing its true colors again—and it’s not red, white, and blue. While hardworking Americans suffer under a record-breaking government shutdown, do-nothing lawmakers are lounging around and treating themselves to a vacation. The elites in Congress have turned their backs on the people who pay their salaries, ignoring the chaos they helped create. Instead of rolling up their sleeves, they’re soaking up the sun and hoping no one notices. But guess what? People are finally paying attention, and it’s about time.

The fact that media outlets—yes, even the gossip hounds usually obsessed with catching celebrities in their worst moments—are now forced to chase down elected officials, speaks volumes about the dysfunction in D.C. Everyone can see that leadership in Congress is missing in action. While American families worry about paychecks and pay their taxes anyway, politicians take their sweet time coming back to work. Where’s the accountability?

The hypocrisy from the liberal side is especially stunning. These same lawmakers preach about standing up for the “little guy,” all while eating fancy meals and hiding from the responsibilities they swore to uphold. If they were truly concerned about the everyday American, they wouldn’t treat a crisis like a holiday. The left loves to talk about “crisis management” when it’s a political stunt, but now they’re nowhere to be found.

Even President Trump has taken notice, ramping up pressure and demanding Congress return to work. But the so-called “leaders” of the left would rather protect their power and globalist friends than solve problems at home. It’s an embarrassment. They’re more interested in fighting Trump’s policies than fixing the mess they created.

America deserves better. Congress needs to stop running from their duty and start working for the country, not for themselves. If the liberal elites won’t even show up when America needs them most, why should anyone trust them with anything else? Maybe it’s time they put down the champagne and picked up a backbone.
