America just witnessed yet another embarrassing episode of Democratic political gamesmanship with the Department of Homeland Security shutdown. Let’s not kid ourselves. This wasn’t a “bipartisan mess”—this was the left openly holding our security hostage so they could squeeze more chaos out of Washington. Democrats actually cheered while TSA workers went unpaid, airports got backed up, and terrorists had an open invitation during Operation Epic Fury. If there had been a natural disaster, FEMA would have been powerless. That’s what the left wanted: pain, instability, and one more excuse to rip apart American pride.
Republicans weren’t perfect here either. The internal squabbling and last-minute about-faces gave the world the spectacle of a party fighting with itself while trying to corral a stampede of Democrat obstructionists. House leaders trashed the Senate’s plan one day, only to circle back the next and sign on. Meanwhile, the Senate approved their bill and then bolted for the exits, leaving the House to stew in the mess. Of course, Democrats spent those days crowing about “GOP chaos,” pretending they weren’t the ones lighting the fuse in the first place.
Here’s the reality: It’s always been the radical left pushing these reckless shutdown stunts. Their activist base loves it when hardworking Americans suffer, so long as they can keep the paychecks flowing to their preferred special interests. They moved the goalposts constantly—first demanding concessions, then walking away from their own proposals. All this drama, just to keep our border agents and ICE from getting paid. The Democrats hoped to cripple law enforcement at the border with their childish antics.
But here’s the silver lining: They lost. Republicans finally got the message. There will be no Democrat leash on ICE or Border Patrol; these agencies are getting significant funding for the next three years. TSA payroll and airport security got fixes, but everyone knows those were just stopgaps because of this liberal sabotage. Democrats wanted the shutdown, and when President Trump forced the issue—demanding Congress fund ICE and Border Patrol through reconciliation—the plan finally started to move forward.
Let’s make it simple: Don’t trust Democrats with national security, or anything else. They have no respect for American sovereignty or the hardworking men and women who put their lives on the line. All they bring is chaos, lawlessness, and childish power games. Next time, the GOP should nuke the filibuster, ram through real reforms, and quit playing footsie with the radical left. Why let the arsonists run the fire department?
