The Department of Homeland Security shutdown—supposed to be a moment to stand firm for the country’s safety—has slipped away for another worthless “compromise.” But let’s be real: This wasn’t a negotiation. This was a complete cave-in.

The Senate rushed through a stopgap deal, grinning and patting themselves on the back while leaving the real issues—border security and tough immigration enforcement—dead on arrival. They found a way to keep DHS running, alright. But don’t be fooled: the package does nothing to fix the humanitarian and national security disaster at our southern border. Instead, it sidelines President Trump’s America First agenda, rewarding open-border radicals for their reckless games.

Democrats laugh all the way to the Capitol bank as American citizens get shafted once again. They refuse to give an inch on border control, shielding illegal aliens and endangering families from coast to coast. Meanwhile, too many Republicans are more worried about getting a handshake in the Senate cloakroom than actually defending our nation’s sovereignty. This is textbook DC—the permanent political class keeping their globalist donors happy, while hardworking Americans foot the bill and pay the price on the street.

Make no mistake: Every time weak-kneed Republicans surrender to the left, American security takes another hit. The party of tough talk just proved that their words don’t mean a thing unless there’s an election on the line. Instead of fighting to protect our borders, they cower to media outrage and let left-wing bureaucrats stay in power. It’s no wonder trust in Washington is at rock bottom when our so-called representatives care more about good press than good policy.

If this is what “leadership” looks like, America is in serious trouble. When will the GOP learn that standing up for American values isn’t optional? Did anyone bother asking the citizens along the border what they think? Or is this just another backroom deal cooked up by globalist elites who couldn’t care less about our safety?
