There’s something rotten in California, and its name is liberal failure. Two of the biggest cities out West—San Francisco and Los Angeles—are dealing with the same homeless crisis, but the results couldn’t be more different. Why is San Francisco finally seeing daylight while Los Angeles keeps sinking further into misery? Simple. San Francisco is finally facing one of the real problems: addiction. LA is still making excuses.
For years, politicians promised that more money, more housing, and more handouts would fix homelessness. We’ve seen how well that worked out in Los Angeles. Tents keep multiplying, needles litter public parks, families can’t even enjoy a weekend downtown without tripping over another disastrous scene. The liberal answer has always been to spend more taxpayer money and hope for a miracle, instead of cracking down on the true drivers of this crisis. Addiction gets swept under the rug in LA, out of fear it might offend someone’s activism.
But up in San Francisco, something is changing. The city is no longer pretending that every person living on the street just needs a free apartment. Leaders are finally pushing addicts into treatment, not just waving them onto another street corner with a burger and a flyer. It turns out, if you expect people to get help and take responsibility, they actually start to turn their lives around. It’s not rocket science—it’s common sense. San Francisco gets this now. Los Angeles still doesn’t.
You’d think LA would learn by now. At what point do the failed liberal policies get scrapped for something that actually works? The proof is in the streets. While San Francisco is cleaning up its sidewalks, LA is doubling down on do-nothing policies, trapping people in addiction and misery, all while big city officials pat themselves on the back at fancy fundraisers. This is what happens when you put appearances over action, and progressive dogma over safety.
The real kicker? Everyday people suffer—kids, workers, small business owners. They’re forced to watch their neighborhoods turn into no-go zones, while woke politicians smugly defend their bankrupt ideas. If LA actually cared about its citizens, it would deal with addiction head-on, not keep hiding behind a mask of phony compassion. How much longer will Angelenos let failed leaders ruin their city, when all it takes is a backbone and a little common sense?
