Once again, the silent majority is starting to speak up. According to a new poll, fewer than four out of ten Republicans—or anyone even slightly right of center—think NATO is actually helping America. And honestly, can anyone blame them? Washington elites have spent decades propping up this bloated alliance, pouring in billions while our own borders get trashed and cities fall apart. That’s not “security”—that’s globalism running wild.
While liberals and establishment types love to lecture about “unity” and “shared values,” regular Americans see the truth. They see their tax dollars funding endless European defense, while Europe turns around and sneers at us every chance they get. Most Republicans aren’t buying the same old line that NATO is some magical shield. They know who ends up holding the bag when trouble starts: American families, American troops, and American workers.
It’s always the same story. For years, we’ve been told we need to stay in these shady alliances or else the world will fall apart. But who’s really benefiting? Certainly not the American people. Politicians rake in praise from the global elites, and European bureaucrats sleep peacefully, secure under the blanket of American might. Meanwhile, our own soldiers are sent to bleed and die for countries that barely meet their minimum obligations, if they bother to show up at all.
Let’s talk about hypocrisy. Liberals shame anyone who questions NATO, pretending that skepticism is somehow “anti-American.” These are the same folks who have no problem torching the Constitution at home or backing failed big-government schemes. They’ll spare no expense to defend “democracy” overseas, but won’t lift a finger to defend liberty on American soil. Maybe that’s why so many on the right are tired of footing the bill.
The numbers don’t lie. Fewer and fewer conservatives believe NATO works for us. It’s about time we ask—why should we sacrifice our prosperity, our security, and our lives for an alliance that treats us like a piggy bank? Maybe it’s time to put America first for a change. How much longer are we going to be Europe’s free ride?
