Over the weekend, Lance Corporal Daniel Montano, just 21 years old and serving at Camp Lejeune, was stabbed and killed during a nighttime fight in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. This is the kind of tragedy that should make every American furious. A young Marine, trained to fight for this country, cut down not on a battlefield but in the streets of an American city that’s supposed to be safe.

Where was the leadership? Where are the calls for law and order? Liberals love to talk about “defunding the police” and pushing soft-on-crime policies. This is what we get: chaos, lawlessness, and blood on the sidewalk. When a Marine can’t make it through a night out without getting stabbed to death, it’s not just a tragedy—it’s a symptom of a broken, reckless system that the left refuses to fix.

Democrat-controlled cities bend over backwards to pamper criminals and tie the hands of law enforcement. It’s so much easier for woke politicians to worry about pronouns and virtue signaling than to actually protect real Americans. Meanwhile, our best and bravest end up as casualties in their own country. How many more families need to get the worst news possible before someone steps up and says enough is enough?

Our military men and women deserve better. Daniel Montano signed up to defend this nation. He should have come home with honor, not as a statistic. Every parent, every patriot, should be asking why it was possible for a violent criminal to end this Marine’s life in a city that claims to care about public safety. Liberals love to talk about compassion—but where was their compassion for Daniel or his grieving family?

If Americans can’t even keep our streets safe for our own troops, what does that say about the state of our nation? Maybe instead of wasting millions on globalist pet projects, our leaders should focus on bringing back law and order.
