Once again, Democrat politicians are showing us exactly where their priorities lie—and it’s nowhere near the heart and soul of America. Just look at Paige Cognetti, the mayor of Scranton. This so-called leader made it her mission in 2020 to squash any sense of real American spirit—and she did it with all the smugness the radical left loves so much.
While most folks looked forward to the Fourth of July as a moment to celebrate freedom after months of lockdowns, Cognetti took to her online soapbox to scold citizens about fireworks. Rather than celebrating independence, she whined about how Americans should sit quietly and avoid “disturbing” their neighbors. Apparently, gathering in the streets to wave a flag and enjoy a simple firework show is “offensive” in her woke world, but we all know how Democrats have tried to erase everything patriotic for years.
But here’s the real kicker: While she was out there demonizing Americans who dared to show a little pride in their country, Cognetti couldn’t even raise her voice when thousands marched for Black Lives Matter—right in her own city. Suddenly, the crowds were no problem! The same politician who wanted to send cops after people for setting off fireworks or attending an Easter service, suddenly had no issue with massive, out-of-control protests. She didn’t defend law enforcement. Instead, she chose to stand on the sidelines and “dialogue” with activists—many of whom made it clear they have nothing but contempt for our first responders.
This is the standard playbook for the left. Religious Americans, especially Christians, get threatened with police visits for simply gathering to worship on Easter Sunday. Patriotic Americans are told their celebrations are dangerous and “disturbing.” But the far-left mobs get a free pass—sometimes even a warm welcome—from their Democrat pals in power. If you’re a Christian or a proud American in places run by these woke elites, forget about fairness. You’re the enemy just for living your values.
Paige Cognetti doesn’t stand for Scranton. She doesn’t stand for the Christian community or for the millions who still believe America is something to celebrate. She stands for radical liberal politics, woke ideology, and the progressive activists who want to tear down everything that makes this country great. Is anyone really surprised anymore? When it comes to Democrats like Cognetti, it’s always one rule for them and another for the rest of us—especially if you love God or country.
So, the next time a Democrat claims to care about “rights” or “safety,” just remember: their rules only apply if you’re celebrating the wrong holiday, worshipping in the wrong church, or loving your country out loud. Maybe what we really need is a mayor who loves America just as much as the people who live in it.
