NYC Plans to Take Your Money and Control Your Food in Wild New Scheme

The latest scheme out of New York City is enough to make any honest taxpayer’s blood boil. Mayor Zohran Mamdani—yes, the far-left champion himself—just rolled out a plan to slap New Yorkers with a big fat bill to pay for “low-cost” groceries. That’s right, the city is getting ready to play grocery store with your hard-earned money. Apparently, personal responsibility and the free market are just too old-fashioned for Mamdani’s crowd.

Seventy million dollars. That’s the budget they’ve set aside for this socialist daydream. Seventy million—that’s real money that could be fixing roads, hiring cops, or actually making life better for law-abiding citizens. Instead, Mamdani would rather throw it at some big-government shopping project that sounds like it came straight from a failed Soviet handbook. Of course, he claims this is all for “the people.” Funny how it always seems to just make government bigger and the public more dependent.

Let’s call this what it is: another power grab from politicians who think they know better than the rest of us. The left loves to push these kinds of programs under the banner of “helping the needy.” But everyone knows what this is really about—buying votes and making sure no one can get by without a handout. If politicians keep handing out groceries, pretty soon, that’s all they’ll be handing out—because no one will have any incentive to work harder, strive for more, or climb the ladder.

It gets worse—the city doesn’t even plan to start this mess until late 2027. So not only do you have to pay for it, but you also have to wait years before you can line up for your rationed, government-approved food. It’s almost like they want bread lines… but with better branding. Is this really America’s future? Is the Big Apple supposed to become the Big Breadline?

The elites always tell us this is progress. They say we should trust their grand designs, but all we get is more bureaucracy, more taxes, and more control over our lives. If New Yorkers wanted socialism, they could have moved to Venezuela. The bottom line? When the government owns your groceries, it soon owns everything else—including you.
