New York’s leaders have declared war—not on crime or corruption—but on the people who dare to invest, build, and believe in our cities. The real enemy, according to Albany and Attorney General Letitia James, is anyone in real estate trying to develop new homes. Instead of supporting builders, these liberal politicians are crushing them with lawsuits, regulations, and sky-high taxes. The result? Ordinary folks struggle to afford even a modest apartment, while politicians pat themselves on the back for “fighting greed.”
Let’s call this what it is: a power grab by anti-capitalist elites who see property rights as something to be stomped out. Every time a developer tries to create more housing, they’re met with fines, blockades, and nonstop harassment from bureaucrats. Progressive policies have turned the dream of homeownership into a nightmare. Meanwhile, the very same politicians claim they care about housing shortages and rising rents. Hypocrisy doesn’t get much clearer than that.
Instead of working with private owners to make things better, the left wants total control. They act like developers are villains, even though these are the folks who actually build homes. Liberal leaders push for more government handouts and rent controls—policies that have already failed city after city. When you destroy profit and punish investment, don’t be surprised when there’s nothing left to invest in.
Albany elites and Attorney General James keep talking about “equity” and “justice.” But the only thing they’re actually doing is destroying wealth for working families and pushing jobs out of the state. Is it any wonder that people are fleeing New York in record numbers? If you can’t build wealth here, why stick around just to pay for someone else’s failed experiment?
This is the real legacy of New York’s left-wing crusade against developers: empty promises, fewer homes, and shredded dreams. The American way is supposed to reward hard work, ambition, and innovation. Why do Democrats insist on doing the opposite? If politicians hate private property so much, maybe they should give up their own mansions and join the rest of us out here in the real world.
