KB Home abandons California after 60 years is this the final straw for the Golden State

California has done it again. Another major company is bailing from the so-called Golden State. This time, it’s KB Home—a multibillion-dollar heavyweight that’s been building homes in Los Angeles since the 1960s. That’s over sixty years of not just business, but deep roots in California. If a company that literally builds homes can’t survive in California, what does that say about the people running the show?

KB Home isn’t just moving across town. They’re packing up decades of investment, jobs, and pride and heading for Tempe, Arizona. Why Arizona? Because, unlike California, Arizona doesn’t punish businesses for trying to succeed. In fact, KB Home says the business environment and long-term costs are simply better outside of California’s borders. Guess what that means: more jobs and money for Arizona, and another economic black eye for California.

Let’s be honest, this isn’t a fluke or one-off. This is a pattern—one company after another running from California’s sky-high taxes, endless regulations, and knee-jerk liberal policies. Politicians in Sacramento love to brag about “progress,” but what kind of progress repels businesses, crushes dreams, and drives families with good-paying jobs into other states? California’s leaders call it progress. Most Americans just call it incompetence.

This is liberal hypocrisy at its finest. They claim to care about affordable housing and jobs, yet their absurd rules drive out the very companies that provide those things. This isn’t protecting workers or taking on “global interests.” It’s killing opportunity in their own backyard. And while the elites in San Francisco and Los Angeles sit comfortably in their gated communities, regular Californians are left to wonder where the next paycheck is going to come from.

KB Home leaving isn’t just a tough blow—it’s a warning siren blaring for anyone paying attention. How many more giants have to flee before California’s leaders admit there’s a crisis? At what point do they stop blaming others and look in the mirror? Or is driving out American business what they wanted all along?
