You won’t believe what LA is spending your tax dollars on now parents are furious at billion dollar raises

Los Angeles politicians have done it again. Just when taxpaying parents breathe a sigh of relief that LA’s schools won’t be shutting down because of another out-of-control teachers’ strike, here comes a new blow: a jaw-dropping $1.2 billion a year in new raises for district staff. Yes, you read that right. Billion—with a B. All to avoid teachers walking out and sending 400,000 kids back home.

This is what happens when big unions get too cozy with liberal lawmakers. California’s so-called “leaders” don’t even blink before shoveling more mountains of taxpayer money into broken bureaucracies. Instead of grappling with real solutions—like accountability for results or getting politics out of classrooms—the district just signs checks it can’t cash. Meanwhile, kids and working parents pay the price.

Where is this money coming from? It’s not from some endless fairy tale “education fund.” It’s coming from LA’s hardworking families, already stretched thin by inflation, crime, and high taxes—all thanks to years of failed progressive policies. Liberals running this district act like public funds are a bottomless piggy bank for their political friends. No wonder California’s middle class is fleeing to red states in droves.

Let’s not pretend this is about “the children” either. Student learning hit rock bottom during the last shutdown. Now, instead of focusing on fixing that crisis, the district chooses to splash out more cash. All so union leadership can pat themselves on the back and left-wing bureaucrats can keep their jobs. If results mattered, these “leaders” would be sweating the district’s abysmal reading and math scores—not celebrating reckless spending.

How much more can LA families take? Unchecked union demands, cowardly politicians, skyrocketing bills, and failing schools. Californians deserve better than this expensive circus. Maybe it’s time to start asking whether any of these liberal big-spenders even remember what “public service” means.
