Hochul’s embarrassing reading plan exposes just how badly New York is failing its kids

When it comes to teaching kids how to read, New York is failing—big time. Now Governor Kathy Hochul claims she wants to fix it, but her “solution” is a total embarrassment. She’s just throwing more taxpayer money down the drain, which seems to be the Democratic way. If you actually care about education, you don’t shower cash on the same failed liberal interests that caused the problem in the first place.

Instead of standing up to the powerful state teachers’ union—an organization that puts politics ahead of children—Hochul is actually paying them to fix the very disaster they created. These unions have spent years pushing left-wing garbage over solid reading instruction. They’re more interested in indoctrination than education, and everyone with a brain knows it.

Here’s what’s so outrageous: the evidence is already out there. Plenty of research shows how to teach kids to read, but our so-called leaders ignore it. Why? Because it’s easier to do the bidding of special interests than it is to stand up for parents and children. The left’s answer is always the same: waste more money propping up a broken system, then act shocked when nothing gets better.

Liberal hypocrisy is staggering. They act like they’re all about “science,” but when the science doesn’t fit their agenda, they toss it out and hand the keys back to their union cronies. Instead of making hard choices or holding the establishment accountable, Hochul’s just writing bigger checks. Meanwhile, students across New York keep falling further behind.

New York’s children deserve real solutions, not another empty promise from an out-of-touch governor more interested in pleasing her political donors than helping kids. Hochul’s “science of reading” push isn’t just weak—it’s an insult to every family watching their kids struggle to read because of years of liberal failures. Why keep trusting the same people who broke the system to fix it? Only a liberal could be so clueless.
