New York is at it again, wasting taxpayer money and putting our roads in danger. The Biden administration’s Transportation Department just yanked $73 million in federal funds from the Empire State. Why? Because New York couldn’t even manage to hand out commercial driver’s licenses legally. That’s right—instead of following federal rules, the state’s incompetence led to more than half of a tested sample being issued illegally.
When federal auditors looked at just 200 of these commercial driver’s licenses, 107 of them were handed out in violation of the law. That’s over fifty percent! All it took was a basic check, and the rot bubbled right to the surface. This isn’t just red tape; this is about public safety. These aren’t regular driver’s licenses—these are for people behind the wheel of massive trucks. If the state’s leaders can’t ensure that only qualified people get these licenses, they’re gambling with American lives on our highways.
Who benefits from this unchecked disaster? The globalist crowd and the open-borders lobby, of course. Nondomiciled licenses, issued to people without legal residence, open the door wide for shady operators and those who bypass the rules. New York’s left-wing leadership, obsessed with being “welcoming” at all costs, forgets that there’s a price—American safety and the rule of law.
While Governor Hochul and her liberal allies whine about losing federal funding, it’s everyday taxpayers who get stuck with the real bill. Bureaucrats are more concerned with virtue signaling than enforcing the basic laws of the road. This goes beyond simple paperwork mistakes. It’s a symptom of a larger disease—Democrats running government like a woke social club instead of a serious institution for the people.
Maybe now New York will learn, but don’t bet on it. The left will probably blame conservatives, or cry foul at being held accountable.
