Los Angeles was once the shining city of the West. But drive down any street these days and all you’ll see are potholes, cracks, and broken dreams. The so-called “leaders” in charge don’t even bother to fix their roads anymore. In a city with over 7,500 miles of street, just a tiny sliver — only 9 miles — have been repaved in the last nine months. That’s not just incompetence; it’s a new low for liberal big government.
This isn’t hurricane damage, war, or some biblical plague. This is willful neglect. Liberal politicians love to hand out billion-dollar boondoggles on pet projects and “equity” schemes, but when it comes to basic, everyday services? Forget it. Ordinary families, taxpayers, and small business owners are forced to swerve like a game of Mario Kart just to get to work. What do the bureaucrats care? They’re riding around in taxpayer-funded luxury, while the rest of us ruin our tires and risk our safety.
It’s all about priorities. The left’s globalist agenda says roads and infrastructure can wait, as long as the money keeps flowing to virtue-signaling nonsense. Instead of fixing what’s broken, Los Angeles is happy to let its own infrastructure rot. Is this what progressive leadership looks like — letting the streets crumble while virtue is signaled from some fancy conference in Switzerland? Apparently, yes.
This is no accident. When liberals run everything, failure becomes a daily fact of life. They’d rather host anti-American social experiments than provide for their own citizens. Collapsing roads aren’t just dangerous — they’re a glaring sign that once-great American cities are being dragged down by leftist policies and endless mismanagement. How much longer will hardworking Angelenos put up with it?
Los Angeles doesn’t have to be a punchline. But as long as left-wing elites are in charge, you can expect more broken promises, broken asphalt — and broken trust. If this is “progress,” maybe it’s time to slam on the brakes and demand real leadership. Or does the liberal elite really think Americans are dumb enough to keep driving down this road to nowhere?
