Zohran Mamdani is at it again, rolling out another flashy plan that’s long on slogans and short on solutions. His big idea? City-run grocery stores. That might sound bold to liberal elites who never shop in the places they claim to “save,” but for every hardworking New Yorker, it’s just another government stunt set up to fail. With only one store per borough, Mamdani’s so-called socialist experiment is nothing but a tiny stage for his ego—not a real answer to food deserts.
Let’s be honest: These “proof of concept” grocery stores are a smokescreen. Not even Mamdani pretends this will fix anything for regular folks. What’s he really offering? Bread lines by another name. Socialism always promises plenty but delivers dusty shelves, higher prices, and bureaucratic nightmares. Been down this road before? Just ask anyone unlucky enough to have survived decades under socialist regimes. You get more slogans, fewer potatoes.
The left loves to use these attention-grabbing projects to distract from their inability to govern. Instead of making the city more affordable, cutting taxes, or supporting local small businesses, Mamdani wants to play grocery clerk with your tax dollars. It’s another classic case of liberals treating New York as a playground for their bizarre experiments. Meanwhile, real families are left to pay the price—literally.
There’s something deeply hypocritical, too, about these so-called “progressive” crusaders. The same politicians who cry about “equity” are happy to waste money on Potemkin programs that barely scratch the surface of actual problems. All show, no substance. It’s the socialist playbook, straight out of the globalist agenda: more waste, more control, less freedom for the average American.
So what’s next for Mamdani? Four years of empty gestures and self-serving headlines, while the city slides further down the path of mismanagement. New Yorkers deserve real answers, not make-believe socialism dressed up as change. When will the left admit their ideas don’t work—and stop experimenting with our lives like we’re test subjects? Is this really the best that liberal leadership can dream up?
