These days, the left loves to shout about patriarchy and “empowering women”—all while turning right around and celebrating women who objectify younger men. Case in point: the latest trend of older women chasing—and bragging about chasing—much younger guys, with media cheerleaders acting as if this is something bold and enlightened. There’s even a podcast out there, run by liberal insiders, hyping up this so-called “cougar” culture. They gush about women “objectifying” young men, but slap a layer of psycho-babble over it to make it seem healthy. Apparently, if a woman does it, it’s therapy. If a man does it, it’s toxic.
This is classic leftist double standards at work. For years, conservatives have been scolded about the dangers of objectification and “abuse of power” in relationships with big age gaps. But now, when older women act just like the “bad men” liberals used to rail against, suddenly it’s fashionable and liberating. They try to sell it as women “taking back power”—but it’s just the same ugly behavior, reinvented and rebranded. Just swapping out the genders doesn’t magically make it right.
Let’s be honest: encouraging women to use men as playthings is not progress. It’s pathetic virtue signaling. These elite media types pat themselves on the back for being “woke,” but really, they’re dragging society backwards. All this talk of “turning the tables” isn’t about justice or equality. It’s about revenge. And it teaches the next generation that the way to get ahead is by copying the very worst examples of the past.
Worse yet, this nonsense sends a dangerous message to young men. The left preaches about consent and respect—unless, of course, a woman wants to “objectify the hell out of” some 20-something guy. Then it’s just entertainment. Imagine for a moment if a group of older men got together on a podcast and chattered about their conquests with women half their age. The outrage would be deafening. The hypocrisy is blinding.
If liberals really cared about equality, they’d be condemning this behavior no matter who is doing it. But don’t expect any real standards from that crowd. Their idea of “empowerment” is just the old power games, repackaged for a new audience. That’s the progressive way: new paint, same rotting wood underneath. Makes you wonder what other creepy double standards they’ll ask us to swallow next.
