Democrats love to talk about “integrity” and “transparency.” But yet again, when the spotlight turns on their own, they run for the exits. This week, Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, a Democrat from Florida, decided it was better to quit than answer for her actions. She resigned from Congress right when the House Ethics Committee was about to drop the hammer with sanctions.
This isn’t just a coincidence or bad timing. It’s a sad pattern for the left. When they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar, they start playing games—dodging responsibility, hiding behind press statements, or, in this case, jumping ship before they have to face the music. Just imagine the mainstream media’s outrage if a Republican tried this stunt. They’d be screaming about corruption for weeks. But when a Democrat pulls something shady, the headlines are quiet and the excuses flow.
Where’s the accountability? The very people who preach about “restoring faith in government” can’t even follow their own rules. Liberals claim to fight for the people, but the only thing they seem committed to is covering their tracks. Voters deserve leaders who face challenges head-on and answer tough questions—not politicians who run and hide the minute things get uncomfortable.
This whole situation raises an ugly question about what really happens behind the closed doors in Washington. How many liberals are just waiting to sneak away when the truth finally catches up? How many are keeping secrets that would set the left-wing media on fire—if only the story fit their narrative?
Democrats never stop talking about “saving democracy.” But when it’s their own power on the line, democracy takes a back seat. Americans are tired of this double standard. If elected officials can bail the minute they’re cornered, what’s left of accountability in Washington? If only the left held itself to the same standard they love to force on everyone else.
