Saturday night’s attempted attack at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner should set off alarms for anyone who actually cares about the safety of American leadership.

A man from California—let’s not forget, the state where crazy left-wing radicalism grows like weeds—showed up armed to the teeth ready to storm the press dinner. Not just a handgun, but a shotgun and knives. This wasn’t about “gun violence” in some abstract way. It was a targeted, political attack. But what did our ever-smug mainstream media do? Immediately, they made it about themselves. They ran around shouting that journalists were the real targets, because of course the world revolves around them. Give us a break. No one outside their woke bubble even knows their names.

As always, reality tells a different story. When confronted by police, the shooter admitted his intent—he was after Trump administration officials. Let that sink in. He wasn’t after random reporters. He wasn’t there for some faceless “symbol.” He wanted to target conservatives—real people, public servants, who are sick and tired of being hunted, both by the liberal mob in the press and now by unhinged leftist criminals emboldened by the climate the left has created.

The hypocrisy is nauseating.
