It’s no wonder the American people can’t trust Washington elites to keep our nation secure—just take one look at the utter mess at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner this weekend. While celebrities, media hacks, and political insiders feasted in their black-tie best, security looked laughably soft. If there’s one event you’d think they’d lock down tighter than Fort Knox, it’s the gathering of DC’s top power players. But apparently, the folks in charge were too busy mingling and patting each other on the back to worry about actual safety.
Speaker Mike Johnson noticed it too, and he’s not alone. Americans are tired of this see-no-evil, hear-no-evil approach from the very people lecturing us about “security” and “threats” at every turn. These are the same liberals who want to monitor our social media, snoop on law-abiding citizens, and strip away our freedoms—yet, given the chance to protect themselves, even they can’t get it right. Can you imagine if this was a Trump event? The media would be howling about “dangerous incompetence” and “authoritarian recklessness.” But when it’s their own cocktail party on the line, the silence is deafening.
Let’s face it: This lax attitude is just another example of Beltway hypocrisy. Liberals in power love to impose rules on the rest of us, whether it’s illegal immigration, letting crime run wild in our cities, or pushing for open borders in the name of globalism. But when it comes to protecting their own little bubble, suddenly standards go out the window. Maybe they’re too distracted by celebrity selfies and virtue-signaling for their next Twitter rant.
Here’s the ugly truth—they don’t take your safety seriously, because they don’t live in your world. They have walls, security details, and insider access. But give them any real responsibility, and it all falls apart. If they can’t secure the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, why should Americans trust them to defend the border, safeguard our schools, or keep terrorists out of our country?
This should be a wakeup call. The elites talk a big game about security and stability, but they can’t even keep their own house in order—literally. Maybe next time, skip the red carpet and start doing your jobs. Or is looking good for the cameras more important than keeping America safe?
