Something is seriously wrong in the world when headlines start reading like this: 22 Buddhist monks arrested in Sri Lanka after smuggling more than 240 pounds of cannabis through the country’s main airport. For years, Americans have been told to look to the East for moral guidance. We’re fed lectures about the supposed purity and peace-loving nature of religious leaders abroad. But as usual, reality shatters the left-wing fantasy.
Here we have a scene straight out of a bizarre Hollywood script. Not hardened criminals, not shady smugglers, but supposedly pious monks brazenly packing their robes with pounds and pounds of illegal drugs. This isn’t some slip—this is organized crime dressed up in orange. If this doesn’t rip the mask off the globalist “everyone’s better than America” narrative, I don’t know what does.
Liberals in the West keep preaching that we must stop “judging other cultures” and should welcome every foreign idea without question. Yet time and time again, these “enlightened” figures turn out to be just as corrupt—if not more so—than the leaders progressives love to demonize at home. Why are American Christians called extremist and intolerant for standing up for basic morals, while foreign monks get a free pass as peaceful saints? Clearly, the standards only swing one way.
What makes this even more outrageous is the scale. 242 pounds of drugs is a massive bust—the largest on record. How many times have Americans been lectured by ivory tower elites to respect these Eastern traditions as some kind of moral ideal while ignoring the rot that’s festering behind closed doors? Maybe it’s time to start looking at the facts instead of blindly worshipping at the altar of multiculturalism.
If a group of evangelical pastors had been caught with that much weed flying out of JFK, the mainstream media would be howling for every Christian to repent in public. But when it’s monks in saffron robes, it’s all crickets from the usual gatekeepers. Hypocrisy, anyone? When will people finally realize that importing every world ideology isn’t the answer? Maybe America isn’t the problem—maybe it’s the solution.
