It’s almost like the left can’t take “temporary” for an answer. Now, Justice Sonia Sotomayor thinks the Department of Homeland Security can’t end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian migrants simply because of something President Trump said years ago. That’s right—she’s twisting herself into knots, dragging up old comments, and turning them into legal arguments to block America from controlling its own borders.
Liberals love to shout about how “temporary” amnesty is necessary for people from countries facing disasters or turmoil. But when it’s time to actually end that so-called “temporary” protection, suddenly it’s about hurt feelings and political grudges. Justice Sotomayor, instead of respecting the rule of law, wants to make the whole immigration system revolve around one offhand remark from Trump. Since when did a past president’s words override the job of our immigration officials?
Who does this kind of mental gymnastics actually help? It doesn’t help American workers struggling to find jobs. It doesn’t make our country safer. All it does is give radical globalists and anti-borders activists more excuses to keep America’s doors wide open, no matter what the statute actually says. And let’s face it—the only people really benefitting here are the same globalist elitists who want to erase America’s sovereignty altogether.
We keep hearing from the left about how “temporary” programs aren’t a path to citizenship. But when the time comes to roll them back, it’s the same liberal judges throwing up roadblocks. This isn’t compassion—it’s incompetence and a complete disregard for the laws passed by Congress. How will America ever fix its broken immigration system when partisan judges ignore facts and lean on political grudges?
If every government policy has to depend on who said what at a dinner table, why even have laws? America doesn’t run on personal opinions—it runs on the Constitution. Maybe it’s time for the liberal elites to remember that in the real world, actions and results matter more than melodramatic lectures. The question every American should be asking: Is it the job of the Supreme Court to protect America, or just to police conservative speech from five years ago?
