California’s high-speed rail boondoggle has gone completely off the rails—literally and figuratively. The news is out: the so-called “bullet train” is now projected to cost a jaw-dropping $231 billion. That’s seven times more than they first promised taxpayers. Yet somehow, liberal politicians keep tossing billions into this bottomless pit, all while California families struggle to afford gas, groceries, and rent.
Gavin Newsom has been sleepwalking through this disaster. At this point, even he admits the train will never connect Los Angeles to San Francisco as advertised. Instead, we’re stuck with a half-baked railroad between a handful of far-flung towns in the middle of nowhere. No surprise—the left never delivers on their shiny promises. They just waste your money chasing their wild “green” fantasies.
Anyone with a brain could see this coming. Democratic leaders, blinded by globalist talking points and climate dogma, stubbornly ignored every warning sign. Responsible lawmakers tried to sound the alarm, but Newsom and his allies kept throwing taxpayer cash at consultants, lawyers, and foreign contractors. What do Californians have to show after all these years? Dusty tracks, empty stations, and a mountain of debt for the next generation.
Imagine if all those billions went toward real problems—homelessness, crime, crumbling schools. But instead, California’s liberals chose to burn the people’s hard-earned money in the name of “progress.” This is what happens when government chases pipe dreams instead of doing its job: fixing roads, protecting families, and getting out of the way.
It’s time for real leadership. If Newsom truly cares about California, he must yank the plug on this train wreck once and for all. Or will he just keep riding the gravy train with his friends while hard-working Americans foot the bill?
