Bipartisanship in Washington is about as rare as a warm smile from Chuck Schumer these days. Democrats can’t stand to see this administration do anything right, and they’d gladly destroy an industry or two if that’s what it takes. Just look at the absolute circus surrounding the Department of Homeland Security funding—Dems have shown time and again they couldn’t care less about border security, American jobs, or frankly, America itself. The government is practically shut down, chaos is everywhere, and everything is politicized, even national security.
But suddenly, in the middle of the noise, something shocking happened—a Republican and a Democrat actually teamed up to do the right thing, at least for once. Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio is leading the way to protect America’s auto industry from being gutted by Chinese Communist Party interests. And, believe it or not, Elissa Slotkin—a Michigan Democrat—decided to join him. Maybe miracles do happen, because this bill is pure common sense: block China from invading American auto markets with their government-subsidized, data-collecting “cars.”
Let’s not sugarcoat what’s going on. The Chinese regime floods the world with cheap, heavily subsidized vehicles, destroying competition abroad and putting American factory workers in the unemployment line. These vehicles aren’t just a problem for the economy. They’re a security nightmare—rolling surveillance units designed to scoop up data on American citizens and our most sensitive locations. Anyone who trusts the Chinese Communist Party with this kind of access isn’t just naïve—they’re dangerously irresponsible or in bed with globalists who don’t care about Main Street, USA.
This bill isn’t complicated. It flat-out blocks Chinese vehicles, software, and auto parts from entering the U.S. market. That means no manufacturing, no sales, nothing. It gives the Department of Commerce teeth to actually keep Chinese tech and cars out, instead of the usual “strongly worded letter” that gets ignored by Beijing. It even gives our own auto industry a few years to readjust, so Detroit can finally compete on a level playing field, not one rigged by globalist stooges and CCP handouts.
Of course, the anti-American chorus from the left will start screaming about “fairness,” “global competition,” or some nonsense about “affordable vehicles.” They never seem to care when it’s American jobs on the chopping block or our security at stake. The truth is, if this country keeps letting China walk all over us, there won’t be a middle class left to buy a car, let alone build one. So here’s the real question: When will more Democrats stop shilling for foreign interests and start fighting for American workers—and American sovereignty—for a change?
