This time, the plan is to waste your money hiring his own rent-a-mobs just because regular folks didn’t turn out in droves for last year’s Rent Guidelines Board hearings. Can you blame them? Everyday New Yorkers work too hard to show up to these scripted political stunts. But that’s not good enough for Mamdani—he wants to pay for a crowd.
Let’s call this what it is: a new scam. When only a few hundred people cared enough to attend last year, Mamdani didn’t stop to ask why. It’s classic liberal incompetence. When they can’t get support naturally, they buy it. Forget actual improvements for the city—just pay people to show up and pretend there’s a movement. This isn’t just lazy. It’s corrupt. Mamdani and his cronies are so desperate for attention they would rather make taxpayers pay for imaginary drama than earn real respect.
