New York City’s so-called education leaders are failing our kids—on purpose. The evidence is right in front of us, but the elites pretend not to see. For years, families from black and Hispanic communities have watched their children fall behind in Department of Education schools. These schools love to talk about “equity,” but all they give out is mediocrity. No wonder families are rushing toward public charter schools, hoping to escape the broken system liberals created.
Let’s get real—city-run schools are more about protecting teacher unions and pushing woke politics than actually teaching kids. While bureaucrats in fancy offices pat themselves on the back, charter schools are quietly delivering results. Poor black and Hispanic kids in these schools are not just keeping up—they’re blowing past their DOE counterparts on test after test. That’s not just luck. That’s proof that effort and discipline pay off when adults actually care.
It’s no accident that New York’s liberal “leaders” are terrified of charters. These are the same people who claim to stand for urban families and opportunity, yet attack the only schools delivering real change. They block new charters, pile on impossible regulations, and pour taxpayer cash into failed programs. Why? Because they hate losing control. For them, this is about power, not education.
The hypocrisy is almost too much to stomach. Progressives celebrate diversity and justice in speeches, but the moment parents choose something better for their kids, out come the knives. Globalist billionaires and union bosses work together to keep the old system alive, happy to let another generation get trapped in broken classrooms, all to protect their cushy contracts and political alliances.
New York’s families deserve better. Why should any child be forced to stay in a failing, union-run school just because the left needs more votes and cash? Parents are voting with their feet—and the numbers prove it. Isn’t it time the rest of America asked the same hard questions? After years of liberal mismanagement, when will they admit our kids come last on their list?
